New competence requirements for boiler operators – accredited certification removed

As of 1 January 2026, new competence requirements for boiler operators will apply in accordance with the Swedish Work Environment Authority’s regulations AFS 2023:11 . The requirement for accredited certification has been removed and replaced by a requirement for documented knowledge. This means that the employer is responsible for ensuring that boiler operators have the appropriate theoretical and practical competence to operate boilers safely.
DEKRA offers a theoretical e-learning course for boiler operators, leading to a digital certificate of competence.
